Part 5 in the RhinoTech video series targets the tips and method on how to remove the stencil from the screen frame after printing is completed, so that you gain a new-looking screen frame in its place.
TOOLS for SUCCESSFUL EMULSION REMOVAL PROCESS
ERG8550L that is a ready-to-use Emulsion Remover. It rapidly removes emulsion and capillary film from screens, offers excellent freeze/thaw characteristics and is ideal for use in all climates.
A RhinoCleanWashout Booth that is available in a variety of standard sizes. Its compact, space saving design and durable construction in Polypro continues to be the foremost choice for screen printers.
The RS1500APressure Washer that features a 26” hose, adjustable PSI from 250 – 1500 PSI, an adjustable nozzle, 110V and ground fault plug. It weighs just 60 lbs. in a very compact form and is a powerhouse of a system that just keeps on working year after year after year.
Apply ERG8550L to scrubber and scrub on both sides of screen.
As you notice in the video, once applied, the stencil begins to break down almost immediately.
After scrubbing, let the product sit for 1 – 2 minutes. Now, power wash (we use the RS1500A).
In a smooth motion, sweep pressure washer back and forth across the screen and experience the excitement of a new-looking screen frame coming into view!
Let screen dry. And, then you’re ready to reuse. It’s that simple.
Thanks for watching another RhinoTech video.

Humidity. We longed for it during the interminable winter; with every*! %!**%!# shovel of snow. But, our memories of desire for the heat have a way of fading when faced with summer-time humidity that invades our shop environments. So, we offer the following on two stellar products that will stand up during the heat and humidity of summer.
THE FIRST from RhinoTech.
It’s RhinoDARK heat transfer paper. This weedless laser paper involves a two-step process comprised of using an A Sheet (printed with a laser printer) and a B sheet. Because the A Sheet has a polyester coating, it will not expand and contract in humid environments. As a result, you’ll get consistent quality and produce transfers that will pop with brilliant color and intense white on all DARK apparel and fabrics. This paper can be applied to 50/50 blends, 100% Cotton and Polyester fabric such as Dri-Fit.
Use RhinoDARK with OKI Data laser printers from RhinoTech that include: the 920 WT, 711 WT and c831-TS http://rhinotechinc.com/digital-transfer/laser-printers
THE NEXT HUMIDITY-DEFYING PRODUCT from RhinoTech.
In textile screen printing, a Film Positive is required for each color in a design that is going to be screen printed. For example, if you have a 6 color project, you will need 6 Film Positives; one screen frame for each color in the design.
To ensure that your Film Positive material doesn’t expand or contract, we recommend RhinoJet (for inkjet printers) instead of paper transparencies. This product is waterproof clear film with a polyester-coating to make it stable under humid conditions. Its formulation makes sure that it will dry on contact with both Pigment and Dye based inks.
We also encourage you to take a moment to read The Effects of Humidity on Screen Printing by John Levocz. This article recently appeared in the June 24, 2015, issue of Printwear. In it, the author offers screen printers a few reminders on how to prepare for and handle the stickiness of the season.
It’s that time of year again when everything in your shop seems to be wet due to high humidity, and this humidity can cause several problems in your shop that you should be aware of.
First, screens will take a lot longer to dry after degreasing and also after coating with emulsion. Do not rush the coated screens. Make sure they are dry all the way through the emulsion coating. If they are tacky to the touch, they need more drying time. Rushing the screens can cause pinhole and emulsion washout issues.
Second, when using plastisol inks, the moisture in the garments need to be driven out before the curing process can start to take place. Shops with smaller dryers and very little airflow can expect to see their cure time increase, so it is important to re-check your cure before blaming the ink.
Are You Motivated to change to an eco-sensitive, biodegradable Screen Wash? If you’re on the fence about changing screen cleaning chemicals, consider that SWG 220™ Screen Wash Degradent has been perfected to offer the toughest screen cleaning action leaving no water-based ink unscathed. And, we’re not kidding!
This Screen Wash removes all types of water-based inks quickly after the press run AND it’s strong enough to remove dried on, water-based ink on screens, as well. This product is water-soluble and evaporates slowly for maximum yield. It is virtually odorless; a characteristic that all employees seek. It leaves zero residue behind, so no ghost images remain on the screen. And, it has a very high flash point. Finally, this screen was can be used with both manual and automatic screen cleaning equipment.
Additional high points of SWG 220™ Screen Wash Degradent:
DRAIN SAFE, NON-TOXIC, 100% BIODEGRADABLE. Cleaned screens look like new. And, the price point leaves competing screen washes wishing on a star! Use of this screen wash and the entire line of RhinoClean Green Screen Cleaning Chemicals will help businesses to “green-up” their screen cleaning practices. Mother Earth will thank you.
SO, the UPSHOT is that this Water-based Screen Wash is a bombshell of a solution.

This short video is a review of the latest, high performing DIGITAL heat transfer papers from RhinoTech. In fact, they also represent the most current laser and inkjet transfer papers in the industry that can be used successfully to transfer images to DARK garments and fabrics. And, to offer the most vibrant of whites (no gray factor).
Though RhinoTech originally produced this big review during Halloween 2014, the information remains timely. Enjoy and thanks for reading/viewing.
1. The first set of t-shirts have been printed with SingleJet heat transfer paper used with an inkjet printer.
As you can see, the colors on the white Tuxedo and Yoga T-shirts are chillingly vivid! Use this paper to transfer designs to pastel, light gray and all white/light color apparel and fabrics.
The Black Tuxedo shirt was digitally printed with SingleJet Opaque. It works alarmingly well to transfer images to the DARKEST OF DARK garments and fabrics. The white that snaps off the shirt is daunting compared to most whites that appear grayed out.
2. The next set of shirts was printed with SingleStep that is designed to transfer to light/white color garments. Notice how the flower design on the pink t-shirt just oozes color. The secret is in the toner; the RT SunAngel DayBold Fluorescent toners used with the RT SunAngel printer.
The white t- shirt with the flower design was printed w/SingleStep and traditional CMYK colors. Notice how regular CMYK colors are scarily dazzlingly!
The black T-shirt, printed with RT SunAngel DARK heat transfer paper for DARK apparel, offers the brightest of white (no graying) that snaps off the shirt.
3. The final series of t-shirts was printed with RT SunAngel DARK heat transfer paper. It’s spooky how excited Greg is about this paper!
The BLACK Anarchy T-shirt features pulsating brilliant blue, white and blood red colors and screams washability.
The CMYK colors printed on the next DARK T-Shirt also bursts with color. It’s simple to apply rhinestones and textile metallic foil right on top of the design for added value.
The RhinoTech logo on the final DARK t-shirt was printed using RT SunAngel DayBold Fluorescent toner. Textile Metallic Foil was added; the look is stunning!
Cross-over products are those that, accidentally or on purpose, have been found to have multiple uses instead of just the one they were originally intended. You can find them all over the place. Anyone remember Pepsi AM for the “breakfast cola drinker” (circa 1989)? It was supposed to be the cross-over into breakfast product, but, fortunately for all of us humans, it died out quickly. You can read more about well-intentioned cross-over products including Ponds toothpaste, Cosmopolitan (Magazine) Yogurt and Coors Rocky Mountain Spring Water at this site: http://www.businessinsider.com/qwik-fails-15-disastrous-product-launches-that-were-quickly-killed-2011-10?op=1#ixzz36EZGjIwX. And, beyond that, do you have undiscovered cross-over products?
Two examples of viable, cross-over products from RhinoTech
RhinoBond™ Toughened Frame Adhesive Systems requires no premixing of solvents and offers tension holding capabilities of over 90 newtons. The wide range of viscosities available ensure a secure bond of mesh to wood or aluminum screen frames. The RBT Series is flexible, impact toughened and has great removal characteristics. They dry in seconds and are non-hazardous.
Because of these amazing characteristics, especially the non-hazardous part, RBT 100 (super, super, super glue) is often used by beaders as an adhesive to use to secure a knot on a bracelets and necklaces and to hold beads in place. Compared to other jewelry-making glue in that growing market, this glue surpasses. It will dry quite quickly, as well. As always, follow directions for handling and don’t glue your fingers together! It’s $37.00 for the Kit.
Discovered by a quilter searching for a better bonding product, we’re showcasing RBA3 Spray Web, an aerosol adhesive that is much like the product used during Halloween to create spider webs. RBA3 Adhesive Web is the quilter’s adhesive of choice for several reasons. One, it is part of the RhinoClean Green line of environmentally-sensitive products.
Two, the “web” is quite self-contained so over spraying, unlike what is often found with other spray adhesives specific to the crafting/hobby market, is a non-issue. It works particularly well during the sandwiching phase of quilting as it is able to be respositioned. This adhesive web is strong enough to hold sweatshirt material in place and it bonds easily to a variety of materials without transferring adhesive to the fabric that is a highly important element. And, it washes out.
This quilted, reversible yoga bag in the featured image was constructed with RBA3. It’s soft and durable with two pockets large enough for a water bottle, wallet, keys, suntan lotion and more. A yoga mat easily fits. If you’d like to order a finished bag or 1 or more cans of RBA 3 Spray Web, contact RhinoTech at 651-686-5027. At $6.99 for a 13 oz. can, it’s a steal! And, with a $50+ purchase, FREE SHIPPING is available within the contiguous U. S.
As always, thanks for subscribing to this site.
This guy cracks us up! Dan Danbom is a contributor to Printwear; you can find his article on the last page of the magazine each month. Dan is the laugh master. Self-deprecating and insightful, he takes our everyday world and spins it so that the things that bug us like TOO MANY PASSWORDS are put into non, ledge jumping perspective. He’s definitely the guy to offer a well-deserved righteous chuckle, giggle and snort, fall-down-laughing, LOL guffaw.
As easy as MyZK8o0veeMan62hike.
In Last Laugh (Printwear, March 2014), Dan succinctly nails the password debacle; having to remember 20 passwords (that seems a low estimate for most of us), the fact that he’s probably been hacked anyway, because most passwords are way too easy to crack, and that “because the help desk is a pleasure on a par with kidney stones, many workers simply write down their passwords on a piece of paper and tape it to their computer. While this ensures that no one will forget their password (because they don’t have to remember it in the first place, it can also lead to mischief if unauthorized person access your computer and download, say, a large retailer’s seventy-million credit card records).” Bazinga!
No Password Needed.
Fortunately, you won’t have to remember this code, RCG07, past this Saturday, June 7, 2014. They asked and Gregory Markus, president of RhinoTech, answered in the Screenprinting magazine article, “Slam Dunk Solutions for Screen Cleaning”. The article features a step-by-step approach to screen cleaning and reclaiming using the RhinoTech brand of eco-sensitive screen frame cleaning products. The straight-forward tutorial found on ScreenWeb also offers images of each stage in the process along with a simple explanation of each step. We hope you’ll find the following, brief overview helpful.
START from here by carding all excess ink of the screen (refer to steps in article)…
APPLY water-soluble SCREEN WASH SWG 145C that has a pleasant citrus scent. RINSE w/water to remove excess ink and screen wash (easy steps outlined in article).
NEXT, APPLY ERG8550L, a biodegradable, eco-friendly emulsion/stencil remover to fully reclaim the screen (article says it all).
RINSE SCREEN with a commercial-type PRESSURE WASHER like the RhinoSpray 1500A, heavy duty pressure washer for shops cleaning 20-50 screens per day or the RhinoSpray 3901R that is a light-duty pressure washer for small, home based/studio type businesses. In the long-term, you’ll save money by investing in a substantial pressure washer that will last and last and last (this is a must, as mentioned in the article).
De-haze with HRG2400 (or HR2800) to remove any left over ‘ghost’ or haze images on the screen (instructions found in article).
And there you have it – a fully reclaimed, reusable, new-looking screen frame – all engineered by RhinoTech!

Thanks for reading; your interest and input. Always appreciated!
RhinoTech has rolled out a new digital printing system that has been demo-d via DAX shows in Chicago, Minneapolis and Kansas City. Next up for the RT SunAngel DARK debut will be the ASI show in Chicago in July. Other show demonstrations are still being discussed such as NBM Indy, ISS and more. RhinoTech has promised information as soon as it becomes available.
PRINT ON BLACK, NAVY, RED, ORANGE – ALL DARK APPAREL.
In the meantime, here is an extension of their printing instructions found at RT SunAngel DARK video on how to add rhinestone bling to a DARK t-shirt printed with the RT SunAngel DARK series.
The shirt on the right was originally printed with RT SunAngel DARK heat transfer paper, printer & fluorescent color + white toners. Rhinestones were added to it by placing a sheet of random patterned rhinestones on top of the design, placing a piece of parchment paper on top of that…heat pressing it using LIGHT pressure at 300 degrees F for 30 seconds. When done, the parchment was removed and, using a soft cloth, the rhinestone sheet was rubbed thoroughly. When cooled, the carrier sheet was peeled off ( RhinoTech would like to acknowledge USA Rhinestones for use of the rhinestone sheet).
IMPROVE YOUR COMPANY’S BOTTOM LINE PROFIT GOALS.
By adding rhinestones, you have added more dimension and interest in your product. The product value has just increased, as well, enabling higher pricing and profit margins for you.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this brief, informative article in the digital printing realm. Again, thanks for subscribing and learning.
